RB Celebrates Sixth Straight Year of Charity Day in U.S.
[Parsippany, NJ] – October 16, 2017 – For the sixth straight year, RB employees and local business partners joined together during National Preparedness Month to raise money for the international charity Save the Children. The company’s largest one-day fundraising effort netted more than $277,000. Combined with the $167,000 raised by employees as part of the 12-state Race Across America (RAAM) earlier this year and a company match, RB has brought in nearly $900,000 for Save the Children in 2017, and more than $35 million as a global entity since 2003.
As part of Charity Day, the global health and hygiene company also announced it is donating $25,000 worth of Lysol® products to aid Save the Children’s relief efforts following the devastating hurricanes Irma and Maria.
In the U.S., funds raised for Save the Children go specifically to support the “Get Ready. Get Safe” program designed to help communities prepare to protect and care for its most vulnerable populations during disasters and emergencies. The program provides training and easy-to-use tools for families, schools and communities and ensures emergency resources are in place before crisis strikes. RB employee volunteers are trained to work with community groups at “Prep Rallies,” where children and adults get tips for staying safe in disasters.
“Helping Save the Children, and through them children and families, is one of the most important things we do at RB, and with the recent hurricanes that have ravaged Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, the need is even greater,” said Lynn Kenney, Communications Director for RB North America. “We are both proud and grateful to be working with an organization whose mission is so complementary to our own – healthier lives and happier homes – and whose commitment serves as an inspiration to us all.”
For nearly 100 years, Save the Children has been on the front lines of emergency and humanitarian responses around the world. During disasters like Hurricane Sandy and most recently the devastating hurricanes in Texas and Florida, Save the Children has been there to provide meals, supplies and child-friendly spaces, along with ongoing support to address emotional recovery and future preparedness.
Globally, RB is a long-time partner of Save the Children, and supports efforts to “Save a Child Every Minute,” a joint program created to eliminate child mortality related to poor sanitation and hygiene.
