What are the judges looking for?

The winner of Brand Innovator of the Year will be an idea, product or brand that shows new thinking that has generated significant market success in a specific sector, as measured in sales, early market share and market response. It doesn’t have to be a new brand – it could be a brand extension or the rejuvenation or repositioning of an existing brand, or even an innovative marketing campaign.

2012 – Pizza Express

The Pizza Express team developed a new in-restaurant mobile payment system to cut down on what can be a frustrating wait to pay.

The iPhone app is integrated with Paypal and links to the food brand’s till system in real time. The chain rolled out free wi-fi at the same time, aiming to ensure the app would work quickly and enhance consumer experiences.

Judges' verdict: “genius for customer experience and service”
