The world around us is just as important as our business, and that's why we are dedicated to environmental and community projects which, among other things, contribute to reducing carbon emissions or help less fortunate people all over the world.

Here's a selection of some of the ways RB has been recognised for its corporate social responsibility efforts.

RB retains Dow Jones Sustainability Index membership

RB has once again been selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). As one of the most important sustainability rankings in the world, the DJSI is based on corporate economic, environmental and social performance with a strong focus on long-term shareholder value. Only the best-in-class companies are included.

This year RB was industry-best in eight of the 20 categories.

Newsweek ranks RB one of world's Top 10 green companies

Newsweek Green Rankings 2015Newsweek has ranked the world’s largest companies on corporate sustainability and environmental impact, and it was good news for RB. In recognition of RB's reduction of water use by 12% and energy consumption by 13%, RB came in fourth on the list of World's Top 10 Green Companies with a Newsweek Green Score of 84.1%.

RB joins Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World (Global 100) Index

RB has ranked 7th in the Corporate Knights Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World (Global 100) Index. RB has also ranked highest amongst the 11 UK companies in this year’s index. This is RB’s first time on the Global 100, one of the world's leading sustainability indices for global equity investors. RB performed particularly well against its peers in the household products industry on energy, carbon, water and waste productivity.

CEO Rakesh Kapoor said: “I’m proud of the progress we’ve made since launching our betterbusiness sustainability strategy two years ago. Our ranking in the Global 100 is the result of the drive of our people to outperform on our ambitious environment targets as they do in every aspect of our business.”

Silver Class Award for RB in Sustainability Yearbook

Sustainability Yearbook AwardRB's sustainability work throughout 2013 has been recognised again by RobecoSAM's Sustainability Yearbook.

RB won a Silver Class Award in the Household Products category, reflecting the continued development of the sustainability programme. The Award recognises a company’s ability to innovate, attract and retain talent, or increase resource efficiency.

RB retains membership of FTSE4Good Index

FTSE4Good logoRB's corporate social responsibility performance has led to a continued inclusion within the FTSE4Good Index Series.

Criteria for membership of FTSE4Good – which recognises companies who work to improve environmental and social practices – include human and labour rights, climate change and environmental management. Companies' performance is reviewed every six months.

RB's CSR campaigns recognised by PR Daily

PR Daily Corporate Social Responsibility Awards logoRB's environmental efforts continue to impress. To top off a successful 2012, RB has now won the Best Environmental Stewardship award in PR Daily’s inaugural Corporate Social Responsibility Awards.

Our innovative approach to carbon management and the admirable achievement of reaching our Carbon20 target a fantastic eight years ahead of schedule helped RB come out on top.

RB’s sustainablity performance shines again

RobecoSam logoRB has been recognised in the 10th Sustainability Yearbook – launched at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.

RB is one of the top scoring companies in our sector and has won two awards: a Sector Mover 2013 Sustainability Award for our rapid improvement in sustainability, along with a Bronze Class Sustainability Award.

RB recognised by Carbon Disclosure Project

RB has been commended by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) for the action it is taking to reduce emissions and mitigate the risks of climate change.

RB is featured in CDP’s Carbon Performance Leadership Index (CPLI). The CPLI highlights those companies within the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (Global 500) that have demonstrated a strong approach to climate strategy and emissions reduction in their CDP responses. RB scored an impressive 93% for disclosure and achieved a top A rating for performance.

Paul Simpson, chief executive officer of CDP, commented: “Companies in the CPLI are demonstrating a clear commitment to manage their greenhouse gas emissions and take action on climate change. Organisations which work to reduce their emissions and integrate climate change issues into their business strategies have the potential for cost savings, revenue generating opportunities and, ultimately, a more resilient future.”

Carbon20 shortlisted at Green Business Awards

GBA logoThe Green Business Awards celebrate excellence in green practice, strategy and products. RB has been shortlisted in recognition of our Carbon20 initiative to reduce our products' Total Carbon Footprint by 20%.

The original goal was to achieve this reduction by 2020, but we were delighted to reach our target EIGHT years early in 2012. 

UK Packaging Awards logoAir Wick’s innovative new aerosol – which uses compressed air instead of traditional chemical propellants butane or nitrogen – has won at the UK Packaging Awards 2011 for environmental initiative of the year.

It is estimated that the change from butane-powered aerosols constitutes should lead to around 42,000 tons of CO2 reduction – the same as taking 13,000 cars off the roads.

The UK Packaging Awards recognise and reward not only packaging quality but “consistency, business strategy and financial performance and environmental impact.” 

RB and Save The Children global partnership wins GOLD

Our global partnership with Save the Children has been recognised in the Corporate Engagement Awards, held in London in July 2011. RB won Gold for ‘Most effective long-term philanthropic scheme’ and Silver for ‘Best charity-centred sponsorship activity’.

The awards, presented by Communicate Magazine, demonstrate the company and the global workforce’s commitment to the partnership with Save the Children.

Gigaton Awards: RB wins

RB has been recognised at the very first Gigaton Awards, for its work in making a difference to climate change and environmental sustainability. The Gigaton Prizes were developed and awarded by the Carbon War Room, a non-profit organisation that harnesses the power of entrepreneurs to implement market-driven solutions to climate change. The awards ceremony took place during the World Climate Summit.

The award for the Consumer Staples sector was given to RB in recognition for work on demonstrating its leadership in mitigating risk from climate change and sustainable practices.

EPA award

EPA SDSI and SmartWay awardsRB is recognised by the EPA (US Environmental Protection Agency) as a Champion in the Design for the Environment Program’s Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative (SDSI).

The EPA has also recognised RB for committing to improve the environmental performance of their freight operations, as a SmartWay Transport Partner.
